How do I book a session?

Question 2

How far in advance should I book a 30A photography session?

Accepted Answer

The best rule of thumb for booking a 30A photographer is simple: reserve your session as soon as you’ve booked your accommodations. Once your Destin or 30A travel dates are set, booking right away gives you the best chance at your preferred sunset time and beach location.

For most families, that means booking 3-6 months in advance, especially for summer, spring break, fall break, and Thanksgiving week. Sunset beach sessions in Seaside, Rosemary Beach, Santa Rosa Beach, and Destin book out 6+ months ahead during peak weeks. For off-peak winter and early-spring dates, 4-8 weeks is typically enough notice, though earlier is always better.

Question 3

Should I book a sunrise or sunset beach session?

Either way, I always time your session for the soft light around sunrise or sunset, when the light is most flattering on the Emerald Coast.

Both are beautiful, so the right choice really comes down to your family. Sunrise beach sessions along 30A are my recommendation for families with babies and young children. The light is soft, the beaches are nearly empty, and toddlers are at their happiest early in the day. Sunrise is also a great fit for summer senior portraits when the afternoon heat and humidity would be tough to shoot in.

Sunset sessions in Destin, Seaside, Santa Rosa Beach, and the surrounding 30A towns are perfect for families with older kids, teens, and extended family groups who want that warm, glowing coastal light. Sunset also works better for seniors who are not early risers.

How much does a 30A family photography experience cost?

Your 30A photography investment depends on a few things: the length of your session, how many locations we use, and the collection you choose. Most families investing in a custom beach portrait experience along 30A and Destin spend between $700 and $4,000+, which includes professionally edited images and access to my full line of heirloom wall art, albums, and metal prints.

Because every session is tailored, I share full pricing and collection details during the inquiry process so I can recommend the right fit for your family, your trip, and the images you want to display in your home.

Question 5

What is included with my session deposit? Digitals?

Accepted Answer

Your session deposit reserves your date on my 30A photography calendar and is credited toward the collection you choose after your session. It secures me your photographer, your location, and your preferred sunrise or sunset time along the Emerald Coast.

Within 14 days of your beach session, I will send a private online gallery where you can view and select your favorite images over a 15-day viewing window. Digital images are purchased through the collection you select, so you only pay for the portraits you truly love.

If you would like help choosing images, or you want to see exactly how your portraits will look on your wall before you order, just ask. Yes, I really can show you that. We will set up a design call and build a print order together, whether you are after a single statement piece or a full gallery wall.

Question 6

How many people can be included? Extended Family? Dogs? Other?

Your 30A photography session is built around who you want in the frame. A Single Family beach session includes Mom, Dad, and the kids. An Extended Family session covers the whole crew, including grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, which makes it a favorite for family reunions and multi-generational trips to Destin and 30A.

For high school seniors, a Simple Senior Session focuses entirely on the senior. An Extended Senior Session can include parents, siblings, and even the family dog if you want them in a few frames.

Question 7

Where will my session take place? Which 30A beaches are the best?

Most of the time I will photograph you at a location near where you are staying. Once I know your resort, rental, or beach town, I will recommend the best beach access and backdrop for your session. My core 30A photography area runs from Destin to Rosemary Beach, and depending on my schedule I also travel to Navarre, Pensacola, Gulf Shores, Panama City Beach, and as far as Cape San Blas.

Every town along the Emerald Coast has its own personality (Visit South Walton has a helpful guide to each 30A neighborhood). Rosemary Beach is unmatched for European-inspired courtyards and cobblestone streets. Alys Beach offers striking all-white architecture for modern, editorial-style portraits. Seaside brings that classic pastel-cottage Americana feel. Grayton Beach is rustic and barefoot. WaterColor and WaterSound are longtime favorites for extended family beach photos.

Senior sessions can include one or two locations, and we will finalize those details after booking once I know your style and the vibe you want. When you book, I will walk you through every option based on where you are staying and the look you are after.

Will you help with what to wear?

Then, after you book, you will receive a “ Pre Session ” Questionnaire. This will help me get to know you prior to the session. You will also get the link to my NEW “ Style & Prep Guide ” which has a ton of information like sample color palettes with clothing images & direct links to make shopping for “what to wear” so easy. The guide also has tips for prepping for your session & a “ Day of Checklist ” to make sure you don’t forget anything.

Question 9

What if the weather doesn't cooperate?

Shhhhh we don’t say that word around here it’s always sunny in Florida! Right?

If it’s a less than 90% chance of rain at the location, then we will wait till just before session to see if it’s actually raining. However, if it’s a 100% chance of rain, I still wait till 2-3 hours before the session before calling it off. I have had MANY MANY times where we called off the session at noon. Then at 5–6pm it was gorgeous on the beach and raining inland. In addition, if it does happen to be raining during your session, we will figure out the next best time. We’ll lock in the new schedule before you leave to go home. For example, that may mean getting up at sunrise (I know that is usually VERY early but it’s gorgeous & cooler than sunset).

Of course, if for some reason we can not reschedule during this visit, no worries. Your session deposit is transferable to another date within a year of our original date scheduled.

Question 10

What about Hair & Make-Up?

If we are shooting on the beach PLEASE remember that it's ALWAYS windy on the beach. I STRONGLY suggest leaving hair & make-up to the pros. They are used to the beach wind & humidity and not to mention its a great excuse to get a little bit of pampering before the session. In the "Client Guide" which you get after you book there will be a list of local ladies that I highly recommend. I STRONGLY suggest to take make the time to get hair & make-up done for any photo shoot.

Question 11

I'm so nervous, will you give me pose ideas?

Absolutely! In fact, that's what I'm known for! Throughout your session, I'll give you tons of ideas and directions to help you feel completely at ease. You'll also get gentle coaching to feel like the beauty queen you are. Don't be surprised if I ask you to walk towards me like you're on a catwalk or give me your 'soft smile' (aka smirk)! (Consider yourself warned! ;))

What should I bring?

The best thing you can bring to your 30A beach session is a well rested, well fed, happy child. Since that does not always go according to plan, pack a few snacks and a couple of your child’s favorite things. They go a long way toward helping your little one feel comfortable and actually enjoy our time on the sand.

Beyond that, bring whatever makes your family feel like your family. Pets, lollies, loveys, tutus, capes, umbrellas, instruments, favorite books, a special blanket. These details add personality to your beach portraits and often become the images families love most.

The same goes for senior sessions and adult portraits. Letter jackets, sports gear, instruments, a truck, or a beloved dog all help tell your story along 30A and Destin. If you are wondering whether something will work, just ask before your session and we will plan it in.

Question 13

What if I need to reschedule my session?

Of course, we understand that unexpected things come up. If you need to reschedule, please call us as soon as possible. If you are sick, it is better to go ahead and reschedule your session. The session deposit can be transferred towards another session on another date as schedule allows.

What can I expect to see after the session?

Within 14 days of your 30A beach session, your gallery will be ready. I will upload 80+ professionally images to a private online gallery, displayed with a watermark while you make your selections.

You will have 15 days to choose your favorites and decide on your collection. If you are having a hard time narrowing it down, just let me know & I will be more than happy to help.

Question 15

Will you edit the images?

Accepted Answer

After your session, the images will be color corrected, brightness adjusted & some editing to them.

However, I do not heavily edit, “retouch” or “detail edit” every image in your gallery. As a result, some images in your gallery will have more touch-ups than others. I do this intentionally to demonstrate the achievable edits, such as removing people from the background, “popping” the colors, removing bruises, touching up “boo boo’s”, etc. This is to provide you with an idea of the final result. The majority of the images in the gallery will NOT undergo detailed editing.

For the images you select to purchase in your digital collection or print through me, I am happy to detail edit. In my experience, many images are nearly perfect except for specific areas that may require editing. Therefore, I will include some images in your gallery that I anticipate will need additional edits.
